Two-term El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen says she intends to run for Mayor of Colorado Springs in the April municipal election.
Lathen told The Gazette, she had decided not to run, but was then asked to run by a group of "Organized Citizens" to seek the mayoral post.
Lathen has been an El Paso County Commissioners since 2008. She was re-elected in 2012.
The race for Springs Mayor is starting to shape up. Current Mayor Steve Bach says he's considering whether to run for a second term, and Colorado Attorney General John Suthers says he’s considering running. The municipal election is April 7th.
