COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A Colorado Springs woman was convicted Wednesday of hiring two people to kill her roommate to collect an insurance claim.
48-year-old Tammy Fritz will be sentenced later this month.
In 2005, Fritz put victim James Bowden to bed after a night of drinking, lit candles in his bedroom, and turned on a fan to spark a fire. A month before, Fritz took out a life insurance policy on Bowden with herself as the beneficiary.
In 2009, Fritz allegedly hired two people to kill Bowden. He survived an attack by an assailant with a baseball bat. The three suspects were arrested last year.
