COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A transient accused of arson told Colorado Springs Police he did not start two of three fires that ignited on the west side over the weekend.

68-year-old Manuel Rascon is being held after three fires broke out between Friday night and Sunday morning near 30th and West Colorado.

The Gazette reports, an officer noticed Rascon standing near burned leaves Sunday night, within 30 feet of where the other fires occurred. He was wearing freshly burned clothing. He claims he fell into a creek and started a fire to dry his feet. He denied setting the other two. He was also accused of arson in Denver in 2011.

Rascon will be in court next week for advisement of charges.
