COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Air Force Academy Cadets are getting ready for one of the biggest days of their lives, 812 cadets will be commissioned as Air Force Officers

And of course, President Obama will be the keynote speaker, and that means big crowds and traffic.

Gates open at 7:00 a.m., the ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m.

Organizers are advising guest to arrive early since there will be a lot of traffic in and around the area. You can expect delays around the Air Force Academy and on I-25.

And with President Obama in town, there will be rolling road closures both before and after the ceremony, as he arrives and leaves. For security reasons, the route he takes will not be made public.

Directly after the ceremony the Thunderbirds will put on a spectacular show. Thousands are expected to gather in parks and parking lots to watch.

A couple of the most popular viewing spots include the Western Mining Museum, where you can pack a picnic, just bring $5 so you can park on the hill. There’s also a parking lot at Interquest Marketplace, but that fills up fast.
