COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 0- The Colorado Springs Police Department is requesting help from the public in the investigation of an Attempted Kidnapping:
On May 1, 2017, a little after 3:00PM, a ten year old boy was playing in the playground at Academy International Elementary School, which is located at 8550 Charity Dr. As the child was leaving the playground area and starting to walk home, he was approached by an unknown male driving a newish, black in color SUV, similar to a Toyota 4Runner with running boards. The child described the vehicle as all being black with chrome rims and darkly tinted windows.
The male suspect asked the child if he wanted a ride home. When the child refused a ride home, the suspect then yelled, ordering the child to get into the vehicle several times. The child then began running from the area as the SUV followed for approximately 40 yards. The victim of the attempted kidnapping hid in nearby bushes for a few minutes until he heard the suspect drive off at a high rate of speed.
The child was unable to see the suspect through the dark tint but described him as having a deep voice.
