NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

It has been one of the more interesting Air Force Football seasons in recent times. Friday night the Falcons got a 30 yard field goal from Luke Strebel on the final play of the game to beat Nevada. 2 weeks ago Air Force fell behind 27-0 to UNLV, turned the ball over 5 times, and somehow managed to win. 3 weeks ago, the Falcons took a 4 point lead with under 2 minutes to go at Navy, only to lose with 15 seconds left. It’s one of those years. Combine a young Falcon Defense with some excellent scoring offenses around the conference, and it will be shoot-outs the rest of the season. No doubt the Air Force offense has found its stride, but the defense is still a work in progress. But that doesn’t come as a surprise.. But to be fair, it is a defense that’s getting better. I thought the Nevada game turned in the Falcons favor in the 2nd quarter when Air Force held the Wolfpack to 2 field goals. And for the last several weeks, because of turnovers, Steve Russ’ defense has had to come on following turnovers and defend short fields. What does all this mean for Saturday and the game in Fort Collins and CSU?  Scoring, and lots of it. The Rams will score on anyone. Receiver Michael Gallup leads the nation in yards, and his Quarterback Nick Stevens is in the top 10 in the country in several categories. And Air Force is cranking out the rushing yards with Tim Mcvey, Ron Cleveland, Taven Birdow and Arion Worthman. Last year the Falcons won 49-46. You could see a similar game Saturday.

Our coverage of Air Force and CSU begins Saturday morning at 11. The kickoff is set for 1 Saturday Afternoon on Colorado’s 740 KVOR.
