An El Paso County deputy is facing four misdemeanor charges after a crash last July that left two dead and two injured on Highway 24.
Quinline Linebaugh was driving an El Paso County Sheriff’s office cruiser behind 75 year old Kenneth and 71 year old Dorothy Wuerfele.
When the deputy went to pass the couple, he entered the eastbound lanes and a dump truck swerved to avoid the cruiser, hitting the Wuerfele’s car killing them both.
The driver of the dump truck suffered life-threatening injuries, and his passenger was left with minor injuries.
According to a tweet by the El Paso County Sheriff’s office, Linebaugh is on administrative leave without pay pending termination.
