Denver police involved in deadly shooting

DENVER – An investigation into an officer-involved shooting in Denver continues Wednesday morning. According to DPD, officers were called to S.Colorado Blvd. at Iliff Ave. in south Denver on reports of a man with a gun at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night. When they arrived, they found a man matching the description of the suspect and he appeared to have a weapon in his pocket or waistband.

Police say they repeatedly gave the man commands which he ignored. A few minutes later he drew his gun at officers and they fired at the man. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured.

An officer-involved shooting protocol was initiated. Now, officers from the Aurora Police Department and Denver Police Department conduct a joint investigation with assistance from the Office of the Independent Monitor. After the investigation is complete, a report is sent to the Denver District Attorney’s Office for review.
