Wildfire concerns continue to grow in Colorado

(The Mullen Fire)

COLORADO – Concerns continue to rise as do the acres burned by wildfires across the state of Colorado.  The Cameron Peak Fire in Larimer county has increased to 125, 006 acres and it’s now at 30% containment. Most of the additional containment is on the eastern side from 68C south to Hwy 14.

After additional damage assessment has taken place, a total of 95-buildings have been destroyed by the flames.

The Mullen Fire started about 38-miles outside of Laramie, Wyoming and it has continued to rapidly spread across that state and into northern Colorado. It’s now grown to 106,747 acres and there are currently 934-fire personnel working to contain the blaze. Wednesday, the fire was moving so fast that fire mapping services couldn’t keep up with the spread. You can see the map and infrared data here.

The Mullen Fire may not be that close to The Cameron Fire, but it’s really not that far away. That presents a horrifying thought that the fires could merge. Beetle killed trees represent the majority of what’s been burning in Wyoming and northern Colorado in Jackson County.

The fire was at 25% containment as of Wednesday night.

The area immediately surrounding the fire remains under a closure order. Williams Fork Fire Closure Order Here.
