Fire restrictions lifted in El Paso County

By Nia Bender

COLORADO SPRINGS – Stage one fire restrictions are being lifted on Monday at noon. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jacqueline Reed says people still need to be very cautious in how they handle open flames or when they burn anything.

Stage one restrictions ban almost all outdoor burning and smoking outdoors. Anyone looking to engage in any open burning that “has been allowed in the past” is being asked to contact their local fire district or department and people are also asked to keep fire suppression items available.

Weather and fire danger conditions will be monitored by the sheriff’s office and other fire officials to determine if additional restrictions need to be enacted in the coming months.
