COLORADO SPRINGS – A man is in jail and he’s facing a whole host of charges after a wild chase in downtown Colorado Springs Friday morning. Police were contacted about a hit and run accident at I-25 and Bijou just after 5:00 a.m. and a few minutes later, the same car was seen driving over the lawn of the Police Operations Center.

From there, 53-year old Tony Twiss, crashed into the front doors of the county court building, causing roughly 100-thousand dollars in damage. He also rammed a police cruiser when they tried to stop him. He led police on a brief chase through downtown that came to an end near S. Nevada Ave. and Cimarron, where he was placed under arrest.

Officers had Colorado Avenue between Nevada and Weber closed for about two and it’s since been reopened. Authorities are working to determine if Twiss was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He’s currently being held at the El Paso County jail.
