COLORADO SPRINGS – Northbound I-25 is open again this morning after a wild chase that started in Pueblo after a robbery, ended with stop sticks and gunshots at Woodmen Rd. at about 5:30 p.m. Monday night.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the chase involving a Uhaul pickup truck started at about 5:00 p.m. in Pueblo. Troopers deployed stop sticks and used a State Patrol vehicle to ram and disable the truck. Minutes later, shots rang out and law enforcement personnel was performing life-saving measures on the driver of the truck. They were taken to an area hospital and their condition is not yet known. A passenger in the truck was not injured and they were taken into custody.
The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating the incident and said later Monday night that a Fountain Police officer joined the pursuit as it passed through Fountain PD’s jurisdiction and was the one involved in the shooting. That officer has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy. The suspect was hit at least once and no law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
