The State of Colorado is trying to get people back to work. Wednesday Governor Jared Polis signed an executive order called “The Colorado Jumpstart Incentive Program.” It will give eligible people 1600 dollars to get back to work before the end of this month. The program is targeting people who have received at least 25 dollars in state unemployment benefits beginning in late March. Applicants will have to stay employed for at least 2 months. Eligibility requirements can be found online at Colorado U-I.GOV. The governor has taken this step because businesses either re-opening or returning to full capacity are having a hard time filling positions. Some government officials suggest it’s because people are making more money claiming state unemployment insurance and receiving federal benefits from Covid relief programs.
