Commission pauses approval for new neighborhood

The Colorado Springs Planning Commission agreed with residents Thursday and paused plans for the construction of some 250 homes in a new development north of Powers Boulevard and Old Ranch Road. Area residents argued in front of the planning commission the new neighborhood would have only one evacuation route in case of an emergency. They say traffic and congestion is already a problem in the area. The commission voted 4 to 2 to pause development in that area. Developers can still go in front of Colorado Springs City Council and ask them to review the decision by the planning commission.
