COLORADO – Authorities are working to put out two wildfires in Colorado Friday morning. Evacuations are in place for 25-homes in the Ramona Gulch area in Jefferson County after a wildfire started Thursday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. “The Platte River Fire” has burned about 31-acres on the south side of Platte River Road just east of the town of Foxton. It’s believed downed power lines may have sparked the blaze.

Fire crews are also battling the new “Straight Creek Fire” south of I-70 between the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnels and Silverthorne. Eastbound I-70 was closed briefly Thursday because of the blaze and officials say to be prepared for that again on Friday. The fire is about three miles away from the town of Dillon, near Tenderfoot Mountain. Mire firefighting resources are expected Friday morning with both ground and air support.
(Grass fire the South Chamberlain Trailhead-Colorado Springs)
A grass fire burned about a quarter of an acre near the South Chamberlain Trailhead in the area of Evans Avenue and Mesa Avenue Thursday. CSFD fire crews quickly gained control of the flames before they could spread any farther.
Update- Firefighters have the fire under control with a hose line around the 1/4 acre fire. Crews will be on scene for awhile still mopping up the fire. Unknown cause of fire pic.twitter.com/gHPVVJxprh

As of Friday morning, fire danger in El Paso County is on high alert due to fire conditions. the cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
