Beware of scams related to the shooting in Arvada on Monday

COLORADO – The Arvada police are warning people to be cautious of scammers related to the shooting in Olde Town Arvada last Monday. Authorities want everyone to know that the Arvada police and fire department are NOT collecting donations from businesses for Officer Gordon Beesley or John Hurley’s families.

While it’s unclear exactly how the scammers are working, meaning it’s unknown if they’re making phone calls or just going to various businesses, police say the scammers are pretending to be representatives of the police and fire departments and reaching out to collect money.

Arvada PD reiterated Wednesday the only way people can donate to the family of Officer Beesley is through theĀ Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation. Police said they were still working with the Hurley family to set up a site of some sort for those wishing to help the family of the Good Samaritan.
