Group wants pot tax to support children

A group in Colorado is hoping to get enough signatures to place a proposal on the November ballot to raise taxes on recreational marijuana sales. The group, “Learning Opportunities for Colorado Kids” would use revenue from the initiative, if passed, to fund mental health programs and after school tutoring for colorado children. They are hoping to raise more than 137 million dollars a year for those programs, based on a 5% excise tax. It’s called “Initiative 25”. The group needs more than 124 thousand signatures to get the question on the November ballot.
