Man arrested a second time after escaping a deputy’s cruiser

COLORADO SPRINGS — New details after a suspect escaped from the back seat of a deputy’s cruiser and took off on foot Wednesday afternoon. Officers were conducting surveillance in the Stratmoor Valley neighborhood when they spotted a car associated with their investigation. They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver would not stop. Deputies caught up with the car a short time later near south Hancock and Norwood. The two men inside were arrested and place in the back of the cruiser. Meanwhile, one of the suspects, identified as 30-year-old Joseph Long, escaped on foot. An alert was sent out asking residents to shelter in place. After a few hours of searching long was arrested a second time, and the alert was lifted.
