Man convicted of killing a Colorado State Trooper is heading to jail

DOUGLAS COUNTY – A 46-year old truck driver charged with the death of Colorado State trooper Cody Donahue in November of 2016, is serving 30-days behind bars after he was convicted on Friday.

Noe Gamez-Ruiz is reporting to jail to start his sentence on Monday. Gamez-Ruiz is also being required to serve two years of probation, complete 200-hours of community service, and pay restitution and court fees.

He was convicted on one count of careless driving-passing of an emergency vehicle resulting in death and one count of failure to stay in his lane. He was found not guilty of one count of careless driving resulting in death.
