By a 3-2 vote the District 49 School Board decided Thursday night to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory in its schools. The concept is currently not being taught in Colorado. Critical Race Theory supports the idea that racism and division are part of our nations institutions and is more than just personal prejudice. The idea of CRT was born in the 1970’s and in the last year the topic has been a hot button take around the country. District 49 is the first district in the state to ban it.
