
Colorado Springs city officials have presented the 2022 Budget to city council. Mayor John Suthers is asking for some 400 million dollars, which reflects a better than 16% increase from the 2021 budget. Colorado Springs has had a strong economic bounce back from covid and expects that trend to continue into next year. The city is hoping to retain more than 20 million dollars for a wildlife mitigation fund. That’s revenue that exceeded a growth cap as part of the taxpayers Bill of Rights also known as Tabor. Residents will vote on that in November. The city also hopes to increase the size of its police force and add a number of new positions in various departments.
