On Thursday, the 4th Judicial District Attorney held a press conference discussing the recently unsealed 2021 case against accused Club Q shooter Anderson Aldrich; Allen says on June 18th, 2021, law enforcement responded to a call placed by the suspect’s grandmother. Deputies also made contact with Aldrich’s mother, Laura Voepel. SWAT was called in, and Aldrich was eventually arrested and taken into custody with a bond set at 1 million dollars. Formal charges were filed by the D.A.’s office on June 29th, 2021. They included three counts of kidnapping and 2 counts of menacing. While executing a search warrant, items, including a pistol and a rifle, were seized. Both weapons are still in custody at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The case was eventually dismissed because the family did not show up to testify, making it difficult to prosecute.
