Two Mexican citizens taken into custody after previous drug convictions

COLORADO SPRINGS-Authorities say two Mexican citizens were arrested in Colorado Springs as a part of a nationwide operation from January 23rd through February 6th. According to investigators, Enforcement and Removal Operations took two people they say were unlawfully present noncitizens into custody due to recent drug trafficking and possession convictions. ERO acting Field Office Director Ernesto Santacruz says criminals who repeatedly exploit our immigration law and bring dangerous substances into our neighborhoods will be aggressively targeted by our officers and held accountable for their actions. Neither individual has been identified. According to the El Paso County District Court, they were convicted of possession with intent to distribute meth in September 2020.
