Springs Mayoral Candidate Faces Claims of Campaign Code Violation

Wayne Williams, a familiar face in Pikes Peak  Region politics — and a candidate for mayor of Colorado Springs — is now under investigation for allegedly violating local codes about campaigning. This is centered on a TV ad that has been run by William’s campaign, involving a shot of a fire station and fire apparatus. Under city codes, candidates are not allowed to use city resources as part of a campaign. The Springs city attorney is looking into a complaint filed over the ad yesterday. The city clerk’s office is also involved with the investigation. It’s not clear exactly what timeline this process will follow.
