The trial of Letecia Stauch is slated to start today. She’s the southern Colorado woman accused of killing her young stepson, Gannon, after he disappeared in 2020. The trial follows multiple delays connected to Stauch’s pleading of not guilty by reason of insanity. She has been the subject of multiple mental health evaluations. Here’s a brief overview of the case so far. This started in January 2020, with a report of a runaway child — Gannon — from his Lorson Ranch home. Two days later, the disappearance was labeled an endangered missing person’s case. By March, Stauch was arrested in South Carolina. On March 20th, Gannon’s remains were found in Florida. Stauch was kept in custody, charges were filed and the case moved to court. There were several delays in court, over Stauch’s sanity claims. Today, the trial and jury selection is set to begin at 9 a.m.
