The student suspect in the shooting at Denver’s East High School is dead. The Park County Coroner confirmed that the body of Austin Lyle was found along a county road. Yesterday, Lyle’s car was found in Park County, with a body nearby.

THE SHOOTING
Two deans of East High School were injured after 17-year-old Austin Lyle pulled out a gun and shot them. One dean, Eric Sinclair, is in serious condition this morning, the other, Jerald Mason, has been released from the hospital. Lyle ran from the school after the gunfire. Lyle, a student of East High, was in a safety plan where he had to be patted down — and searched — in front of the office each day. Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas says that this happened multiple times without issue, but yesterday Lyle pulled out a gun and shot and injured the two deans. At that point, Lyle ran from the school. Paramedics were in the school for an unrelated matter that morning and immediately started first aid.

THE GUN
As of this morning, there has been no update if the gun used in the shooting has been recovered by authorities.

EAST HIGH SCHOOL
Student and parents have been calling for higher levels of security for some time. Asking for more school resource officers and metal detectors. The school is closed the rest of the week. Once it reopens the school district says there will be increased security measures taken for the rest of the year at least. The gunfire yesterday was the second shooting at east high in just six weeks — last month a junior was shot while sitting in his car near the school, he later died from his injuries.
