MAYORAL RESULTS

Candidates for Mayor
of Colorado Springs

The third-place candidate, Sallie Clark, had discussed a potential recount — but she has conceded and will not be on the ballot. Moboblade was in the lead of first mayor’s race with 29% of the vote. He’s an immigrant from Africa; a local business and with little political experience. Williams is a former Colorado Secretary of State, and has held multiple elected offices in the Pikes Peak Region. Colorado Springs City Clerk Sarah Johnson hopes voters will come out once again for the runoff. Ballots for the runoff election will be sent out on April 24th. The next mayor will be announced on May 16th.

CITY COUNCIL

For City Council, candidates David Leinweber; Lynette Crow Iverson; and Brian Risley will join the council as at-large representatives. Michele Talarico will serve the rest of the remaining term of Council District 3. She brought in over 50% of the vote.

TOPS TAX

There was a ballot question this year — should we keep the TOPS tax?  Voters overwhelmingly said yes — 78% voted to keep it in place. The program takes 0.1% of sales and use taxes in the city and puts them to outdoor lands, and will be around for another 20 years.
