Hearing Moved for Suspect Accused of Plotting Shooting

William Whitworth, also known as “Lily” / 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office

The preliminary hearing for a former D-20 student accused of planning to shoot up schools and churches has been pushed back several months. The suspect, William Whitworth — also known as Lilly — was in court yesterday, where a motion was made to move the hearing back to June 30th. The motion was unopposed and approved. Whitworth is facing a number of charges, including attempted first-degree murder and credible threatening of schools. Last month, a family member reported Whitworth to authorities, saying they were convinced the suspect was planning a school shooting. Investigators found the suspect in Elbert County, and claim they discovered evidence of Whitworth planning a shooting.  The court says that the suspect’s legal name is William, however, for the remainder of the trial the suspect will be referred to as Lilly and will use feminine pronouns. The suspect is being held in the Elbert County Jail on a $750,000 dollar bond.
