Man arrested for DUI after accusing a dog of driving

Police in Springfield say a man is facing DUI charges after accusing a dog of driving. The suspect was traveling from Las Animas to Pueblo when he got lost in Springfield Saturday night. Authorities say he was going 52 in a 30-mile-per-hour zone when he was pulled over.  An officer reported watching the driver switch places with the canine. They say he then got out of the passenger side and claimed he hadn’t been driving the car. When asked if he was intoxicated, the suspect fled on foot but only got about 20 feet before he was arrested. It was later discovered he had 2 active warrants for his arrest.
