THE GAZETTE IS REPORTING AN AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED BETWEEN ADMINISTRATORS WITH COLORADO SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 11 AND THE COLORADO SPRINGS EDUCATION ASSOCIATION, A UNION THAT REPRESENTS SOME 60% OF TEACHERS IN THE DISTRICT. THE AGREEMENT MUST STILL BE RATIFIED BY TEACHERS LATER THIS WEEK AND THEN PASSED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION NEXT WEEK. IN THE NEW DEAL TEACHERS SALARIES WILL START AT 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS. TEACHERS WILL ALSO GET A 6% NON RECURRING BONUS. THEY WILL ALSO RECEIVE A 5% COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT. FURTHER PAY INCREASES ARE POSSIBLE AS CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN FOR HOW LONG A PERSON HAS BEEN TEACHING, AND THEIR LEVEL OF CREDENTIALS, OR HOW MUCH SCHOOLING AND DEGREES THEY HAVE.
