A former Colorado Springs City Council member has passed away. Stephannie Finley Fortune has died after battling leukemia. Fortune was involved in federal, state, and local government throughout her career. Former mayor John Suthers says fortune was instrumental in shepherding the city for champions projects and worked to resolve essential community issues, including reopening the Westside community center. The mayor says he hopes fortunes life of public service will be an inspiration to others in the community.
