THE GAZETTE IS REPORTING THE SETTLEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS AND GE JOHNSON CONSTRUCTION OVER UNPAID WORK FOR THE NEW SUMMIT HOUSE ON PIKES PEAK WILL BE MORE THAN FIRST THOUGHT. THE PARTIES HAVE AGREED TO A 2.9 MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT. GE JOHNSON FIRST SUED THE CITY SAYING THEY WERE STILL OWED MONEY FOR THE JOB. THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS COUNTER-SUED CLAIMING SOME OF THE WORK WAS SHODDY. THE NEARLY 3 MILLION DOLLAR AGREEMENT ALSO INCLUDES DISMISSAL OF BOTH LAWSUITS. THE NEW SUMMIT HOUSE ATOP PIKES PEAK OPENED TO TOURISTS 2 YEARS AGO.
