TUESDAY MORNING A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR A NEW WATER TREATMENT FACILITY FOR CIMARRON HILLS. THE CHEROKEE METROPOLITAN DISTRICT SAYS THE NEW TREATMENT PLANT IS A MEMBRANE BIOREACTOR TREATMENT FACILITY, THE LARGEST OF ITS KIND IN THE COUNTRY. RATHER THAN TAKE TREATED WATER AND DISPOSING OF IT INTO A RIVER OR A STREAM, THIS NEW SYSTEM USES REVERSE OSMOSIS TO REMOVE BACTERIA FROM THE WATER, THEN AFTER MORE TREATMENTS ITS ALLOWED TO EVENTUALLY SEEP BACK INTO AQUIFERS SO IT CAN BE USED AGAIN. THE NEW TREATMENT FACILITY WAS FINANCED THROUGH BONDS AT A COST OF 45 MILLION DOLLARS.
