2 El Paso County residents dead from West Nile Virus

A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE EL PASO COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS TOLD OUR NEWS PARTNERS AT KKTV 11 NEWS 2 PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN THE COUNTY FROM WEST NILE VIRUS. THEIR IDENTITIES HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED. WITH THE ABUNDANT RAIN WE HAD LATE SPRING AND EARLY SUMMER OFFICIALS SAY ITS NO SURPRISE WE ARE SEEING A MARKED INCREASE OF WEST NILE AROUND THE STATE. ITS TRANSMITTED THROUGH MOSQUITO BITES. OFFICIALS SAY TO LIMIT YOUR CHANCES OF MOSQUITO BITES DON’T GO NEAR STANDING WATER, LIMIT EARLY MORNING AND EARLY EVENING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WHEN MOSQUITOS ARE MOST ACTIVE, USE INSECT SPRAY CONTAINING DEET, AND WEAR LONG PANTS AND LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS.
