A southwest Colorado police officer was shot and killed just before noon Wednesday. According to the Cortez Police Department, an officer was conducting a traffic stop when he was shot. The suspects took off in their vehicle and law enforcement caught up with them. There was an exchange of gunfire and one suspect died at the scene and a second was taken into custody. Meanwhile, the injured officer was transported to a hospital where he died. The officer’s name is not released at this time.
