The environmental protection agency has announced a date for demolishing the Return to Nature funeral home in Penrose where hundreds of bodies were found improperly stored. The EPA says they will begin the demolition on January 17th and expect the entire process to take a little over a week. Officials say the demolition is necessary to safely remove all medical, biological, and hazardous materials found in the building. The funeral home’s owners Jon and Carie Halford are facing hundreds of charges including abuse of corpse, theft, and money laundering.
