Man Who Opened Fire in South-west Colorado Spring Neighborhood Will Not Face Jail Time

A JUDGE HAS DECIDED THAT THE MAN WHO OPENED FIRE IN A SOUTHWEST COLORADO SPRINGS NEIGHBORHOOD LAST YEAR WILL NOT FACE ANY JAIL TIME. JOEL MARTIN WAS FACING OVER 15 CHARGES INCLUDING ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER HE SHOT MULTIPLE ROUNDS INTO THE AIR NEAR THE COUNTRY CLUB OF COLORADO IN AUGUST. DURING A PLEA HEARING MARTIN ‘S LAWYER INFORMED THE JUDGE THAT HE WOULD BE ACCEPTING A PLEA DEAL. THE TERMS OF THE DEAL SAY THAT MARTIN HAS A 4 YEAR DEFFERED SENTENCE, THREE YEARS PROBATION, MANDATORY MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, AND COULD NEVER OWN A FIRE ARM AGAIN. ACCORDING TO THE JUDGE IF HE VIOLATES ANY OF THESE TERMS, HE COULD FACE UP TO 24 YEARS IN JAIL
