COLORADO SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL HAS REVERSED THEIR DECISION TO ANNEX OVER 3,000 ACRES TO SOUTHEAST COLORADO SPRINGS NEAR FOUNTAIN. THE PLAN CALLED AMARA, WAS A NEW SUBDIVISION THAT WOULD BRING NEARLY 10,000 NEW HOMES ALONG WITH SHOPS, SCHOOLS, PARKS AND OTHER PUBLIC FACILITIES OVER THE NEXT TWO DECADES. ORIGINALLY COUNCIL VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE PROJECT. YESTERDAY, THEY CHANGED THEIR VOTE AFTER LISTENING TO BUSINESS OWNERS, CITY LEADERS AND FARMERS BRING UP MULTIPLE CONCERNS SUCH AS INFRASTRUCTURE COST AND DEPLETING WATER SUPPLY IN THE AREA.
