COLORADO SPRINGS VOTERS WILL HAVE A FEW NOTABLE DECISIONS TO MAKE ON THE BALLOT COMING UP IN NOVEMBER. FIRST, VOTERS WILL DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO EXTEND A SALES TAX THAT WOULD PAY FOR ROAD REPAIRS IN THE CITY. CITY COUNCIL SAYS THEY WOULD KEEP A .57% TAX FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS. ANOTHER QUESTION WILL BE WHETHER RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA STORES WOULD BE BANNED IN THE CITY’S CHARTER. THIS COMES AFTER LISTENING TO THE PUBLIC’S CONCERNS ABOUT THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF MARIJUANA. ANOTHER PROPOSAL ON THE BALLOT WOULD ONLY LET EXISTING MEDICAL MARIJUANA STORES SELL RECREATIONALLY. THE TAXES FROM THE SALES WOULD SUPPORTS PUBLIC SAFETY, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND PTSD TREATMENT FOR VETERANS.
