OVER 100 PEOPLE HAD TO BE TREATED AT THE PIKES PEAK REGIONAL AIR SHOW OVER AND 10 OTHERS WERE SENT TO THE HOSPITAL OVER THE WEEKEND DUE TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES. ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SHOW TEMPERATURES REACHED A HIGH OF 96 DEGREES. WITH THE LACK OF SHADY AREAS AND VENDORS RUNNING OUT OF WATER, PEOPLE BEGAN TO SUFFER FROM DEHYDRATION AND HEAT EXHAUSTION. SOME HAD TO BE ADMINISTERED IV FLUIDS. FOR SUNDAY’S SHOW ORGANIZERS INCREASED WATER ACCESS AND COOLING AREAS TO BETTER MANAGE THE HEAT.
