Suspect Identified in Officer Involved Shooting in Colorado Springs

A WOMAN WHO WAS INJURED DURING AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN COLORADO SPRINGS EARLIER THIS WEEK HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. TUESDAY AFTERNOON, POLICE REPORTED TO A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE ON BUCKSKIN PASS DRIVE NEAR THE FIRST AND MAIN TOWER SHOPPING CENTER. A MAN SAID HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND, IDENTIFIED AS 43-YEAR-OLD KARI ANSTETT, WAS HARASSING HIM. WHEN AUTHORITIES TRIED TO MAKE CONTACT WITH HER, SHE ALLEGEDLY POINTED A GUN AT THEM. ONE OFFICER FIRED AND HIT HER. AFTER BEING TREATED FOR HER INJURIES. ANSTETT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON FOUR NO BOND WARRANTS FOR VIOLATING A RESTRAINING ORDER. THE OFFICERS INVOLVED HAVE BEEN PLACED ON ROUTINE ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE WHILE THE EL PASO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONDUCTS AN INVESTIGATION.
