Colorado Springs Utilities received approval Wednesday from the utilities board to ask for an increase for natural gas rates. Utilities officials say rates have been higher than expected because it’s been a cold winter across the country. The increase request now goes before Colorado Springs City Council, which will vote on it at their next meeting Tuesday. If approved the rate increase goes into effect April 1st.
