Jury selection for the trial of Letecia Stauch began Monday in El Paso County. Staunch is accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson Gannon 3 years ago. The jury selection process is expected to last 2 weeks. According to the judge, 75 people will be brought in each day to determine whether they can be objective when looking at the evidence in the case. There have been numerous delays in the case, including pandemic issues and the defendant attempting to defend herself. Five weeks after reporting Gannon missing, Stauch was arrested in South Carolina in connection to his murder. Gannon’s remains were found in Florida a couple of weeks later. Since her arrest, Stauch has undergone two evaluations. The first found her to be sane, the results of the second are not released. Opening statements are set to begin on April 3rd.
