By July, a new superintendent will be in charge of Manitou Springs School District 14. It’s Sean Dorsey — who has a career in the Pikes Peak region, and currently serves as a superintendent in School District 49. He’s worked for several other districts in the region as well. Dorsey was one of four finalists for the position. He says he grew up in a small town comparable to Manitou, and he appreciates the deep passion of small communities about education. The search for a superintendent started at the beginning of this year — when the former head of the district stepped down.
