We’re learning more about the death of a baby in Canon City last Sunday. According to police, an infant—identified as Edward Hayes—was found unconscious at Motel 6. The child was transported to the Children’s Hospital in Colorado Springs where he passed away. Twenty-one-year-old William Jacobs of Florence—the boyfriend of the baby’s mother— was allegedly the last person with the child before 911 was called. Jacobs was arrested and is currently held without bond. Initially, Jacobs was charged with child abuse. Officials plan to amend those charges following the baby’s death.
