D.A. says Fountain officer was justified for use of deadly force

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office says a Fountain Police Officer was justified in using deadly force during a shooting last November. Officers were called to a home in the 6 thousand block of village meadows drive on reports of domestic violence. Investigators say officers went to the door to make contact with the suspect, identified as Ross Floersheim. Officers say they heard a gun “rack” and when the door opened, they say Floersheim had an AK-Style semi-automatic rifle and pointed it at officers. Officers reportedly told Floershiem to put the gun down several times, but he did not comply. That’s when officers fired a shot. Floersheim was transported to the hospital where he died.
