Colorado mother sentenced for the fentanyl-related death of her daughter

A Colorado mother has been sentenced in connection to the fentanyl-related death of her daughter.  In July of 2022, Fountain Police were called to the Loves Country Store off I-25 in Fountain, where the body of 4-year-old Acelynn was recovered. According to the 4th judicial district attorney’s office, Emma Staton pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Staton is sentenced to 27 years in prison with 5 years of parole.
