OFFICIALS AT FORT CARSON HAVE STARTED PRESCRIBED BURNS ON THE MOUNTAIN POST IN THE HOPE TO CONTROL VEGATATION AND LIMIT THE THREAT OF WILDFIRES. THE BURNS WILL HAPPEN SPORADICALLY BETWEEN NOW AND THE END OF THE YEAR, WEATHR PERMITTING. SOME AREAS ON THE MOUNTAIN POST HAVE HEAVY VEGATATION, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE HEAVY RAIN THE REGION HAS SEEN THIS YEAR. THOSE PRESCRIBED BURNS BEGAN SUNDAY (SEPT 10.) IN THE TURKEY CREEK CANYON AREA ALONG HIGHWAY 115. OFFICIALS WORKED ON REDUCING GROWTH IN A 250 ACRE AREA.
