CSFD Puts Out Underground Fires in Downtown Colorado Springs

THE COLORADO SPRINGS FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT MULTIPLE UNDERGROUND FIRES NEAR KIOWA AND NEVADA IN DOWNTOWN COLORADO SPRINGS. AROUND 3 A.M FIREFIGHTERS SAY SEVERAL MANHOLE COVERS HAD BLOWN OFF AND FLAMES SHOT IN THE AIR. THIS CAUSED A POWER OUTAGE FROM SOUTH OF PLATTE TO PIKES PEAK IN BETWEEN TEJON AND WEBER. IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF FOR CREWS TO GET THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL, HOWEVER HEAVY SMOKE LASTED IN THE AREA. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
