TRIAL BEGINS FOR MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING 17-YEAR-OLD CO-WORKER

A TRIAL BEGINS TODAY FOR A MAN ACCUSED OF MURDER IN THE DEATH OF A 17 YEAR OLD WOMAN. JOSHUA JOHNSON IS ACCUSED OF KILLING RILEY WHITELAW LAST YEAR AT A WALGREENS AT CENTENNIAL AND VINDICATOR. THE TWO WORKED TOGETHER. WHITELAW REPORTEDLY WAS KILLED IN THE BREAKROOM AT THE STORE. SHE HAD TOLD STORE MANAGEMENT SHE DIDN’T LIKE WORKING WITH JOHNSON AND ASKED FOR A DIFFERENT SHIFT. THE STORE ACCOMMODATED HER, BUT WHEN SHE WAS LOOKING TO PICK UP MORE HOURS SHE WAS INFORMED THEY WOULD BE HOURS WHERE JOHNSON WAS ALSO WORKING. THE SUSPECT WAS FOUND COVERED IN BLOOD THE NEXT DAY WALKING ALONG I-25 OUTSIDE OF TRINIDAD.
